What are the domes made out of?

The inside structure of the domes are steel bars that have been constructed in such a way to create the geodesic dome shape, making them extremely structurally sound. The outside cover is heavy duty industrial vinyl. They are made to withstand the elements of nature.

Are they safe if there’s a storm?

The geodesic dome shape is one of the most structurally sound shapes available. The American Institute of Architects awarded R. Buckminster Fuller a gold medal, acclaiming his invention, the geodesic dome, as “the strongest, lightest and most efficient means of enclosing space known to man”.

Are they warm in winter and cool in summer?

The ambient airflow inside the dome is continuous and with no stagnant corners, approximately 30% less energy is required to circulate air and maintain even temperatures compared to a conventional building.

All of our domes have reverse cycle air conditioners to keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.

Are they tents?

No, although many people have referred to them in this way due to the vinyl cover. They are a structurally sound construction that’s actually safer than most four wall buildings.

Do the domes have their own ensuite?

Yes. Each dome has separate toilet and shower facilities inside the dome.

Do I need to bring linen?

No. Everything is supplied. Please see our Bed & Breakfast page for more information.

Do you have a restaurant or supply meals?

We offer Bed & Breakfast so unless it is otherwise specified in a particular package or workshop, we do not have meals available. We do not have a restaurant. Breakfast is included with all bookings and is served in our breakfast area in the main building.

Do you have BBQ facilities?

Yes. The View Dome comes complete with its own private BBQ area and setting while the Kookaburra and Buddha domes have shared facilities. All plates and cutlery, etc. are included. You only need to bring your own food.

If you are booking a Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Bike Riders’ package, a BBQ pack will be supplied to save you carrying food, but otherwise guests supply their own food to cook on the BBQ.

Glamourous Camping – getting close to nature while maintaining creature comforts.
